Our Story

We met while attending chuch in Spring 1996 in NE Ohio (Garrettsville). Although both of us were married to other people, we developed a close and special friendship.  Flash forward to 2007 when Jim's wife filed for a divorce, even though Jim was trying to hold the 30-plus year marriage together.  After a brief stay with his brother, Jim moved in with his sister, Karen Knepper, in Girard, Ohio.  At the same time, Donna was doing some soul-searching of her own in regards to her own 24-year marriage.  Then Jim's work environment started going south when he found out his employer was interviewing replacements for his position.  In the fall of 2007 he started looking for work elsewhere, at one time being seriously considered for a position in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!  In the late fall of 2007, Donna and her husband were separated and she moved in with Jim's sister also.  When Jim accepted a position in Norwalk, Ohio (January 2008), Donna decided she had to make a choice and choose to move with Jim.  Donna's divorce was final in June of 2008 and Jim's in October 2008.  Meanwhile, Jim's former employer had filed a civil lawsuit against him, charging him with theft of trade secrets.  On January 7, 2009, we were married in a civil ceremony.  But, both of us being committed Christians, we wanted a church wedding, so we are planning one at the First Baptist Church of Girard on May 23, 2009.

Now, to further complicate matters, we are looking at a relocation to El Paso, Texas (Jim has felt called to that area ever since he visited it almost 15 years ago).  This relocation is tentively scheduled for early June of 2009.
